About Me

My name is Cameron, I've been working as a Monumental Mason for over a decade, making plaques, house/business signage, garden installations and memorials. I have vast experience working with granite memorials given my time served, producing and installing across central Scotland. I have now made the jump to freelance, a lot of my current work is out in cemeteries doing additional inscriptions on existing memorials using modern machinery such as sandblasting to match the methods used today. I am very interested in carving letters and designs using traditional methods, implementing a more human element to each job rather than a manufactured feel. My aim is to only use material sourced locally over using imported material, to help the environment by reducing carbon footprint. Ever since I've been exposed to witnessing hand carved methods to produce the same results, my fascination with the technique has grown. I was drawn to these deep-rooted methods because of the beauty and visual impact of the finished product has, which I believe modern methods can't come close to - specifically, the aesthetics of the chisel marks, the slight differences to some letters and the appreciation of time, effort & craftsmanship. I just love working with all types of natural materials, preferring the unpolished and rustic finishes with textures. ​​
